Rescue Support After Fire

Organized by Carolina Cockers Rescue

Fire Destroys Rescuers Home-STILL without power.
On September 14 we suffered a fire which began in our laundry room and consumed nearly half of our home. Since that time we have been without power. We have managed with a generator since then. We are on a well system since there is no public water in our area. A neighbor kindly let us run a hose across the street to his well which we are currently sharing via 150 feet of garden hose. With the generator we are able to power one a/c unit inside the home, our refrigerator, some lights, and the machines that are constantly running to eliminate the smoke smell that now permeates our entire home. We are also able to run one a/c unit into our kennel.
We are unable to conduct adoptions, unable to groom or bathe dogs, or much of anything else. The building inspector will not restore power until the entire home is rewired to current codes.
Today I took 9 dogs to a groomer because they are going home this weekend and I have been unable to do anything at all to them grooming wise. I sent two of my dogs to Project Pets last week because I did not feel I could care for them under these circumstances. They were my two prized boxer/hound mix babies rescued at the last second from death row in Laurens.
At this point we have zero funds and need some help to get through this time. ALL of our dogs need to go to the groomer at this time, this IS an emergency as they are being covered in fleas and ticks and I have no hot water or enough power to do this myself. My grooming room was a total loss. I certainly can not afford this and they will get sick and die if this keeps up. Our insurance will only pay for the fire damaged portion on the home, not the entire home which was built under different codes in 1979. We have already spent every dime we have to even try to make the dogs comfortable. My daughter can't live here and has had to move in with my in laws. Not to mention that I lost one of my own personal dogs with this fire and I am emotionally spent.
